Resume → plain text,
the way ATS wants it

Paste your resume or upload the PDF. Bullets, quotes, tabs, columns, page numbers and icons are cleaned into ATS-safe text — your wording untouched. Copy it into the form or download the .txt.

How it works

1

Paste or upload

Paste the resume text from Word, Google Docs or a chat — or upload the PDF and we extract the text.

2

Formatting is normalized

Bullets become "- ", curly quotes and long dashes become plain ASCII, tabs and column gaps collapse to single spaces, page numbers and icon-font glyphs are removed.

3

Copy or download

Paste the result into the application form, or save it as resume-plain-text.txt for systems that want a text file.

What gets cleaned

🤖

What ATS text boxes actually choke on

Tabs from two-column layouts, "•" and "▪" bullets that turn into "?" or squares, curly quotes, icon fonts for phone/email, and "Page 1 of 2" footers pasted mid-sentence.

✍️

Wording is never changed

This is a formatting cleaner, not a rewriter. Every word, number and date stays exactly as you wrote it — only the characters around them change.

🔒

Nothing leaves your browser

Pasted text is cleaned locally. If you upload a PDF, the text is extracted on our server and not stored.

FAQ

When do I need a plain-text resume?

When an application form has a "paste your resume" box, when an ATS (Workday, Taleo, iCIMS, Greenhouse…) asks for a .txt upload, when you send your resume in the body of an email, or when a recruiter's system mangles your PDF.

Does it keep my section headings?

Yes. Lines are kept in order; headings stay on their own line. If your PDF was two-column, check the order once — column text can interleave in any PDF extractor, and you can fix it in the editable result box.

Will accented names like "José" or "Müller" survive?

Yes. Only typographic characters (quotes, dashes, bullets, icons, emoji, tabs) are changed; letters with accents and non-Latin scripts are left alone.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Free, no account. PDF extraction has a daily per-IP limit; pasting text has no limit at all because it never calls our server.
